Sanitary ball valves is a valve with a ball as the closing part. According to different standards, sanitary ball valves can be divided into different types. It is mainly used to connect or cut off the medium in the pipeline, and can also be used to adjust and control fluid. Sanitary ball valves is often applied into industries including food, wine, beverages, dairy products, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and bioengineering.

According to structures

1. Fixed sanitary ball valve

The ball of the sanitary valve is fixed and will not move when pressed. The fixed sanitary ball valve is equipped with a floating seat. After receiving the pressure of the medium, the valve seat moves to press the sealing ring tightly on the ball to ensure sealing. Bearings are usually installed on the upper and lower shafts of the ball, with low operating torque, and are suitable for high-pressure large-diameter valves.

In order to reduce the operating torque of the sanitary valve and improve the reliability of the seal, oil-sealed ball valves have appeared in recent years. Special lubricating oil is injected between the sealing surfaces to form an oil film, thereby improving sealing performance and reducing operating torque. It is more suitable for high pressure and large diameter sanitary ball valves.

2. Elastic sanitary ball valve

The ball of the sanitary valve is elastic. The ball valve seat sealing ring is made of metal material, and the sealing pressure is very large. The pressure of the medium itself cannot meet the sealing requirements, and external force needs to be applied. The valve is suitable for high temperature and high pressure medium.

The elastic sanitary ball is made by opening an elastic groove at the lower end of the inner wall of the ball to obtain elasticity. When closing the channel, use the wedge-shaped head of the valve stem to expand the ball and seal it against the valve seat. Before rotating the ball, loosen the wedge-shaped head, the ball will return to its original shape, thereby forming a small gap between the ball and the valve seat, which can reduce the friction and working torque of the sealing surface.

3. Floating sanitary ball valve

The ball of the sanitary ball valve floats. Under the action of moderate pressure, the ball will shift and press tightly on the sealing surface of the outlet end to ensure that the outlet end is sealed.

The float valve has a simple structure and good sealing performance, but the load of the sphere carrying the working medium is all transmitted to the outlet sealing ring, so it is necessary to consider whether the sealing ring material can bear the working load of the sealing ring material. Spherical medium. This structure is widely used in medium and low pressure sanitary ball valves.

According to the ball&hole sizes

1.Full Port Type

A full port sanitary ball valve offers no flow restriction. It means, when the ball valve is open, the liquid can flow freely through it. This is got by making the ball larger than the path size so that the hole bored through it can be the same size as the path.

2.Standard Port Type

A standard port sanitary ball valve does not have an oversized ball, and therefore, the hole is smaller than the fluid path. A standard port sanitary valve presents a small amount of flow restriction as the fluid passes through the valve.

3.Reduced Port Type

A reduced port sanitary ball valve, while, has an even smaller ball and an even smaller hole, which creates a significant flow restriction as the fluid flows through the valve.

In the sanitary fluid, residuals in the ball valve will seriously harm the human body. However, in the half-open position of the sanitary ball valve, a gap may be created between the ball bore and the body in which fluid can be trapped. The cavity filled ball valve can prevent the medium from retaining inside after medium flow. Ball valve of this kind is mainly used in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

There are many other classification methods for sanitary ball valves. According to temperature: high temperature ball valve, normal temperature ball valve, low temperature ball valve, ultra-low temperature ball valve; According to the material: stainless steel, rubber and so on. In use, you should select the appropriate sanitary ball valve according to the function of the sanitary valve and your own needs.
